The start of our 2022 northeast summer family road trip

The trip begins…

The kids are loaded and the camper is hooked up and we’re back on the road Jack!    After a hiatus due to everything being shutdown in ‘20 and house building in ‘21, it’s been a long awaited trip. This time the trip destination is New England and all things East Coast. Evan has a wedding in Vermont so why not right?

Bonus: Gray and Meagan will both hit 49/50 states by the end of the trip. Will Gray make it to Hawaii or will Meagan make it to Michigan first? Only time will tell.

So, we left from church on July 10th and spent our first night on the road at an all inclusive resort in South Carolina named (drum roll please…) BUCEES! Ok so maybe it’s not all inclusive or a resort but it’s got great bathrooms and breakfast and a large parking lot so it met all the needs for our quick sleep boondocking.

We hit the road again bright and early and by late afternoon we were at our first real stop to see the wild horses and Atlantic Ocean at the Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland.  Waves were caught. Horses were spotted. Junior Ranger status was acquired.  It was the perfect exploration to get us going and ready for the final push towards Philadelphia.

We spent the next day riding the train to the city and hitting the Philly high points included but not limited to: Independence Hall and the liberty bell, Love park, Logan Square fountain, the art museum and eating Philly cheesesteak like champions.

Tip for traveling to New England on a road-trip: make sure you have the E-ZPass/Sunpass or something in that system . It has saved us time, money and headaches.

Also don’t forget you can’t pump your own gas in New Jersey…

When we hit the road towards Vermont we were able to make a stopover at Meagan’s sweet friend Katie’s house for breakfast with her and her Kids. It’s been 13 years since we’ve seen her and it was a sweet reunion.

Stay tuned… we’re just getting started
